Major / Career Exploration and Job Search Classes

There are a number of career courses taught at the University of Minnesota in varying formats - in-person, online, or blended formats.  These courses provide students a formalized structure to learn about themselves and the world of work.  Self-learning includes reflection on values, skills, strengths, and interests.  World of work learning includes engagement with in-class speakers, informational interview assignments, and oftentimes site visits.  Activities range from inventories, discussions, and action planning.  are designed to allow students some freedom in customizing their exploration process. 

 

Personality and Interest Assessments

Personality and Interest Assessments

No assessment will tell you exactly what career to pursue. They can, however, give you insights into your preferences and personality traits to help guide your search process. Most career services offices provide the opportunity to take the the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) + Skills Confidence Inventory. Contact your college's career services office for more information.
